All things pass
and at the end of the day
I have nothing but the memories
that I wish I could sift through
to separate the good from the bad
as though I can
separate the rose from its thorns.
So I go on
balancing between joy and regret
waiting for time
to make them all a dream.
DVERSE Poets’ Pub’s Marina Sofia asks us to answer “Those Pesky Questions of Identity”. I chose the question – “What lingers when all is said and done?” Thank you Marina for this chance at introspection.
Visit the Pub for more responses and for plenty of beautiful writing. 🙂 Thank you for coming by.
Introspection for those who read as well… Diane

would likely kill both
you know. smiles.
we take the good and the bad.
what would a rose be without her thorns… i think life will always be a mixed plate – and it’s good that way…smiles
This is very nice, Imelda.
Hi Imelda, this was very nicely said, our life is fragile like a flower isn’t it.
Madame Imelda you lighten my heart.
I think in the contrast between the pain and joy lies the beauty of being alive.
Without one we don’t appreciate the other,,,a cliche, I know. You put if very nicely.
Beautiful poem!
I love separate the rose its thorns…
What a delightful poem for a wonderful prompt. I’m looking forward to heading over to ‘The Pub’, it looks like my kind of place…thanks so much Imelda for the link 🙂
Time is the great healer! As beautiful as ever Imelda.
“So I go on balancing between joy and regret” Balance is good – a lot of wisdom here.
Indeed, who can separate a rose from its thorns? Beautiful piece of introspection, Imelda.
Absolutely spot on, Imelda! Beautiful! 🙂
I specially love this part;
balancing between joy and regret
waiting for time
to make them all a dream.
Beautiful reflections Imelda ~
‘Balancing between joy and regret’ – some days it does feel like a pull between the two.
