Dark clouds rolled in
marring the smooth blue of the sky
the breeze held its breath
the birds were quiet, with nary a sigh.
Will this be the day
when the rains come
to soothe the parched earth
long denied this balm.
Dust swirled about
mocking the awakened hope
as scars traced the land
proclaiming Dry Spell’s work.

Calm, gentle, enjoyed.
Thank you, K. 🙂
I really enjoy your writing; you have a gift 🙂
Thank you, Colleen. 🙂
Dry Spell has been busy this year, that’s for sure.
Thanks, Janna. I just red how much rain is needed in the drought affected areas to reverse the effect of drought – 9-15 inches of rain over a month. I pray they get it.
Lovely poem, Imelda! I’m always happy with rain in the summer, since it helps with the garden and my laziness to water the plants. =)
Brilliant 🙂
