Perhaps, the sunflower knows
the secret to happiness.
How else could she remain
cheerful on cloudy days?
Look at how she stands tall
through those dark nights and rain
always joyful, always hopeful
the sun will come out again.
What sunflower magic
keeps her head unbowed?
Could it be that she lives
for one who’s constant and true –
Her reason for being shines
though hidden from view.

Love the sunflower with drops of water here and there. I find it magical how a whole field of sunflowers will seem to turn to face the sun.
They’re quite amazing, right. I have yet to see a field of sunflowers (boy! that will be so lovely) but I notice from the few in the yard that even the buds turn towards the east or the west depending on the time of day.
Thank you for dropping by. I always appreciate your visit. 🙂
I love those cheerful sunflowers, Imelda, and the images are stunning! I agree that sunflowers have to be female and I enjoyed the personification in the lines:
‘Look at how she stands tall
through those dark nights and rain’
and
‘Her reason for being shines
though hidden from view’.
Lovely lines Imelda.
A lovely poem Imelda, sunflowers always make me smile :o) xxx
I think they know the secret 🙂
Emotions are hidden in your poem and the truth is in all your words. Honestly your poems is brilliant.
Thanks for the kind words. 🙂
Oh this is absolutely beautiful!💖 Especially love; “Look at how she stands tall through those dark nights and rain.” 😊
your first stanza caught my heart, the secret to happiness, if only she would share it with us
Nice last two lines about it shining while being hidden from view.
Indeed… the sunflower seems so happy… I hope they are what they look like
Lovely!
Thanks. 🙂
