I hear the sun rustling in the woods
stepping softly on the soggy ground
She kisses the sleeping buds
and whispers, “Wake up, my sleeping child.”
Fire-breasted robins call in the wind
as they flit and hop from limb to limb
while scarlet cardinal puffs up its chest
to serenade the one to rule his nest
From beneath the earth, as snow retreats,
poke the heads of plump hyacinths
And fragrance will greet the air
bearing gifts of beauty and nectar.
The return of the robins and other birds is one of the best part of spring. When I hear the happy songs and the honks of geese migrating back to their summer home, I know the awakening of spring has begun.
Lovely, Imelda. Thank goodness spring is finally beginning, although
we are likely to receive more snow on Saturday.
Thanks, Sandy. I hope you did not get too much snow this time. Goodness! Winter seems so reluctant to go away.
We got by with a couple of inches. Other places in the state received more than a foot! Yes, winter seems in no hurry to depart.
