A PRAYER

If I could
I would zip the voices
stirring up storms within
I would live
one day at a time
not worrying about tomorrows
trusting they’re in God’s hands.
But if I could not
Pray I’d still sing
like sparrows in a wintry morning.

To the sparrows who are ever present no matter the season.

  1. This brings up the hymn, ‘His Eye is on the Sparrow’ and what a way you have interwoven a humble prayer into this poem, saying what does not need to be said: (…and I know He watches me.) Beautiful poem, Imelda.
