One day, flowers will bloom again
and I will cup their velvety petals
like treasures in my hands
One day, birds will sing again
and my heart will beat
in harmony with their song
One day, the sun will be warm again
and the earth and rivers will wake
and the air will burst with life
So I savor winter
like a seed biding its time to spring
~~~~~
I think winter is worth savoring … and sooner or later it is over.
Beautiful words Imelda.
Thanks, Rupali. 🙂
A lovely conclusion to your poem, Imelda:
‘So I savor winter
like a seed biding its time to spring’.
It’s just around the corner 🙂
Thanks, Kim. 🙂
Lovely thoughts Imelda.
Thanks, Arlene. 🙂
I love the winter scene you paint here Imelda and the patience in allowing a season to show all her beauty and the hope, oh the hope in your words makes me feel very safe.
..and thank you thank you for your very generous words, Gina. 🙂 I hope you are well and good. Happy week ahead. 🙂
i am doing well Imelda, thank you, and wishing you a lovely week ahead too.
Love the alliteration in your poem, and it’s so wonderfully written. So full of patience and hope. Also a lovely winter wonderland photo 🙂 Stay warm, and hopefully sunshine comes your way soon 🙂
Ha! I had to read again to see the alliterations and there they were. Thanks for pointing them out. 🙂
the pictures were from Maine in early January. The weather has been kinder to us since then, especially where we are. We are, in fact, having quite a lot of rains.
I hope you have a great week, Mabel.
There is appreciation and the anticipation of things to be good that one savors and look forward to more later. The payoff would be great!
Hank
The seeds are germinating…I can feel them in your words. (K)
We have had a long, cold, snowy winter. Your verse really captures my longing
for spring’s arrival.
Thanks, Sandy.
We had a lot of snow early in the year, but these days, we are getting mostly rain. I guess that’s good (at least for me).
Stay warm. Spring’s on its way.
You too!
It is good to savor winter preparing us for spring.
Beautiful words ❤
Thanks. 🙂
