TOGETHER

IMG_20160612_120958Wherever you are
Look up at the skies and remember
The same mantle binds
Me to you.

Look at the oceans
Stretching from here to there
Stringing our lives like pearls
In a necklace.

We stand on the same ground
Are warmed by the same sun
Guarded by the same moon
And while we dream the same dreams
We are not apart.

  1. The refrain of “same” means brotherhood and sisterhood to me. This line struck me most:

    The same mantle binds
    Me to you.

    Inspiring to read Imelda.

    1. That’s nice to know, Grace. As I just told Gayle, I wrote the piece from the point of view of someone who is away from the people she loves and that could include anyone. šŸ™‚
      Thank you, Grace. šŸ™‚

    1. The piece was not a very personal one though it was inspired by people who live away from their loved ones. In a way, that also includes me because I am living away from my family (of origin) and friends.

When I was writing this, I was a person convincing someone who’s away that they are not really apart. Now that I read it again, it can be that the same person is convincing herself that she and the loved one away are not really apart. šŸ™‚

  2. “…stringing our lives like pearls in a necklace…” BEautiful words! Beautiful image! It is indeed a comfort to know we are under the same sky even when miles apart!

    1. What do you mean? Who are the poets who inspire me? Keats, Blake, Thomas Gray, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Langston Hughes… then, I also learn from and get inspired by the poet-bloggers I read.
