Naked
I stand
before Love
I am trembling
afraid
my soul is found
wanting and judged
unworthy of love.
Would a rose hide
from the sun
to bloom?
I lift my face
to Love
let its light
illuminate my shadows
and make me shine.

KewlOnE! 🙂 luv it ❤
I do love the middle stanza.. No of course we have to face the sun
I do agree! This is lovely
“I lift my face
to Love
let its light
illuminate my shadows
and make me shine.”
I love this! Beautiful piece that fits perfectly to a gorgeous photo. ❤ I find "Love" here synonymous to "God"…
Thank you for coming by, Maria. 🙂 I am glad you liked this piece.
Yes, you are right. “Love” in this piece is another name for God. 🙂
That’s what make this piece extra special and beautiful. ❤ My pleasure… 🙂
Very inspiring last lines Imelda – lift to LOVE and Light and shine!
And your rose photo is just stunning.
You say so much in so few words. Lovely verse.
And make you bloom brilliantly, Imelda!
You wrote a very strong poem of the human condition when faced with a Lord God. The first stanza expresses exactly why so many run, deny… whatever. You bring the fear to life in your poem. Great work.
The poem flows so wonderfully and the symbolic nature is remarkably well done. What most grabs my attention in the photo is that bud in the left forefront that is nestling up against the full rose – it speaks volumes!
I am glad God loves us anyway. It is good to face the sunlight and grow!
Gorgeous work.
Nice! Shine on!
Beautiful rose 🙂
Yes, with open arms and hearts…we can face Love.
a rose would not hide from the sun, she would tilt her head and soak in the rays..
I don’t think the rose needs courage to face the sun that brings her life…funny that love can make us cringe in fear…but it sure can! Better to grab it with both hands and take our chances. 🙂 Lovely…
This is beautiful! A fragile soul seeking strength from the power of love.
Thanks, Josslyn. 🙂 I think love is a cure for many of our ‘maladies’. 🙂
You’re welcome, Imelda! 🙂
It’s strange how sometimes we find ourselves fearful, unsure, and avoiding the light! Very tender and sweet.
The light shows us the truth about ourselves, truth which is not necessarily pleasant to know. 🙂 Thank you, Victoria, for dropping by and for the kind words.
I like the message and the presentation. Well done.
Thank you very much for dropping by and the kind words, Sue. 🙂
I enjoyed the spiritual symbolism of this, Imelda. We can’t be afraid to allow Love to enlighten us.
This makes me smile too 🙂 🙂
