riding the waveThe waters shimmer as they rush to the shore
where sun-baked children embrace them with glee

seagulls screech while fighting for crumbs
tossed skywards and out toward the sea

A woman hides under her floppy hat
her paperback romance is all she would see.

  1. I’m not a fan of paperback romance, but ohhhhhh, do I ever know how to get lost in a book. And the beach? Wonderful. Loved those “sun-baked children.” 😉

  2. Some people can’t see beauty around them preferring fiction. But I like the fun of the children and the shimmering water. I’ll join them and have some fun. Nice rhythm in this!

  3. I love this:
    “where sun-baked children embrace”

    And this:
“A woman hides under her floppy hat
her paperback” … It makes me picture a floppy disk, which might represent burying herself in work. Also all the hats she wears, responsibility. Also, I think her back is made of paper; she wants to be written on.
