I shuttered time inside my walls
sealed my memories in a vacuum
that they remain pure, unadulterated
by the fetid air that swirls and erases
everything that was
then rewrites its story.
How long could I stand
the tides that weather my bones?
Oblivion knocks on my door.
The world shifts
ever away from my grasp.
I am lost to all.

… and you have endured the memory of all. Enjoyed reading your poetry.
Perfect words with your great capture …!
Wow I love this!
Lovely post!
Love the detail, colors and focal points of this image, Imelda. And your poetry is always thoughtful and inspiring.
A very haunting poem, Imelda. Beautifully written. The last few lines gave me the shivers. Reading the poem, it sounds like someone is very lonely. I love the processing on the photo and how the red stands out. It does look like a welcoming building 🙂
Words and photo a perfect match.
That building sure has a lot of character and history. Thanks.
Awesome poetry and a wonderful old building that I hope can continue to withstand time!
Congratulations! I have selected your post to be featured on Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge.

Thank you for featuring this photo, Cee. 🙂 My honor.
The pleasure is all mine 🙂
Love the texture of this red building. And the processing. Was the focus done in camera? A real eye catcher!
Thank you for dropping by. 🙂 Yes, I did the focus in camera, but I straightened the picture a bit during processing. I was in a moving vehicle when this was shot and pressed the shutter on time before we moved away.
I was trying to find the right words to describe the deep sadness your words evoked… a comment above used it: haunting. Wonderful poem, Imelda!
awesome writing, Imelda 🙂 and your capture is beautiful as well 🙂
