The children are all abed,
now we can have our moment.
Make your dirty Martini
make sure you have a Margarita for me.
Let’s meet each other
in the living room couch
and cuddle as newlyweds do.
I’ll put up my feet right next to yours
on the battered coffee table and rest
my head on your shoulders
while we enjoy the Mentalist
solve the latest murder. We’ll chat
here and there about the day
as we let it slip off our mind
massage the kinks that drive
a space between us
remember that
which made us fall in love
and count
those that make us stay in love
then fall in love again
with each other
tonight.
Tomorrow is another day.

For Poetics, DVERSE POETS’ PUB features Claudia Schoenfeld’s sketches for inspiration. Of course, Claudia is also one of the pillars of the Pub and poet extraordinaire. Click on the picture to go to her Flickr page and on her name to go to her poetry blog. 🙂
Thank you very much for coming by. I better hit “publish” and link up before the Pub closes for the night. 🙂
this made me feel the affection – I liked that
it’s good to get those kinks out of the way that destroy a relationship and enjoy such intimate evenings to just be together, talk about the day, enjoy each other and fall in love over and over again… glad you made it to the pub..smiles
Lovely Imelda. I like how you use this image to express the desire to love again is young lovers. Very well done.
It’s those moments we have to take. Those moments when we fall in love again.. I really like that.
Couples do need to find ways to bring in romance in their lives. This is a beautiful way to do it. Married life, kids, responsibilities, work and all can somehow take away the spark and Cupid darts that we used to feel when romance was new but we shouldn’t allow such to prevent us from celebrating that wonderful thing called Love! All the best to you and your family.
Love the touch of renewing love or falling in love again …hopefully this happens when the nest becomes empty…lucky when it does.
This is just marvelous, Imelda–I couldn’t have written it better!!!
the sketch and words go hand in hand describing the beautifully precious time for discovering again the old sparks…
so important to get that time together….to be together…to get the kids to bed so that it can happen
def an important part of any relationship….
This is so lovely, Imelda. Every couple needs times like this. 🙂
Wonderful.
so nice! i agree with Sylvia, every couple should have times like this. nice drawing, too 🙂
I like the humor in this, although it is quite close to reality (this is pretty much the kind of ‘dates’ we have these days 🙂 )
I love your response Imelda ~ Hey, we need some “we time” alone from kids and housework, smiles ~
Brilliant this…perfect poem for the picture prompt…and we do all need to make this kind of special time. Love this Imelda 🙂
That’s kind of what it’s all about… those kind of moments Diane
So lovely, Imelda! 🙂
A recipe for marital success. 🙂
Awesome, very beautiful, loved it!! 🙂
So sweetly TRUE! 🙂 We must take the time to reconnect – most of us probably don’t do it often enough. (thanks for the reminder)
Beautiful Wishing you many more such moments together 🙂
