I don’t know what kind it is. My mother in-law gave us seeds from garlic growing in her mother’s Oklahoma garden. It has pinkish skin. I planted them one year and did not bother planting better cloves. I just let the seeds that fell grow. I only got little cloves because of that.
Garlic requires very rich soil and plenty of sun. You can only plant it once in the same spot and give the earth a rest to replenish the nourishment of the earth. Once it will start sprouting flowers, cut it so that all the energy will go to the bulbs to grow bigger.
I’ve planted Russian garlic which is reddish and BIG cloves.
Oh, thanks for the tip. That is how my MIL’s cultivated garlic (from the same seed stock I got) looks like. She said that she chooses the best cloves from her harvest and each fall she plants them. My biggest garlic bulbs are only a third the size of her garlic.
I will keep your advice when fall planting comes. 🙂
Wow! Beautiful indeed.
Thanks. 🙂
Gorgeous flowers ,their is beauty in God’s creation and a lesson to learn from nature.Regards.Jalal
Thanks, Jalal. God did make even the smallest thing beautiful. 🙂
They are. We have a few growing in the garden.
These ones are from my in-laws’ garden. They almost look like garlic flowers which I am more familiar with. 🙂
what kind of garlic are you growing?

Stunning captures!
Thanks, Joanne. 🙂
One of your other commentors used the exact word I was going to … ‘stunning’… Diane
Great images, Imelda. I know they aren’t, but the flowers look fluffy and soft. Illusions 🙂
These flowers are beautiful. Not what I would expect from an onion 🙂
I guess I’m too much of a city girl – I had no idea that onions even flowered 🙂 They certainly are pretty!
They are gorgeous! It’s been a while since I saw one!
