I AM AFRAID Posted byImeldaJune 3, 2014June 3, 2014Posted inPoems, WritingsTags:Fear, humility, life, Poem, poetry, Spirituality. Catholic I am afraid to ask for faith I know I will be tested with doubts. I am afraid to ask for hope I know I will soon be in despair’s clutch. I am afraid to ask for love I know thorns will pierce my heart. No sooner have I thought my faith is strong my hope is deep my love is pure that trial comes fiercer than the last to crush the smugness in my soul. I am afraid am afraid… so afraid to ask for that which makes me strong. Yet, what will I be if I don’t? Great writing again, Imelda. It’s so true. If we don’t have the courage to take the plunge, we’ll never know. 🙂 Reply
Oh my goodness, Imelda this is SO GOOD. Would it be okay for me to print a copy for my “keepsakes” file? Reply
Thanks, Starralee. 🙂 I’m flattered you even wanted to print this, so my answer is “Yes, you may.” Reply
Nice poem! It’s so true – we want to avoid pain and despair, but without the adversity, I doubt we’d recognize our blessings as much. Reply
Powerful and stirring…that fear yet knowing you will go forward even as you face it knowing that you have to go through the pain first… Reply
