WPC: LINES AND PATTERNS

“MORNING GEMS”

It’s all about Lines, Shapes, Textures, or Patters at the Weekly Photo Challenge this week. Here are some pictures I have which, I think, respond to the prompt. Nature offers all in a variety of ways. For instance, a leaf has its own unique lines and shape that make it distinguishable from all other leaves. In this regard, I bet that you can easily identify the leaves in the above picture just by the way they were put together and by their shape and design.

I rendered the photos in monochrome because I think a simpler and more stark color scheme helps put the focus on the subjects shapes and patterns.

“HOME” While taking out our puppy one early morning, I took the time to take photos of dew on the grass. As you well know by now, I love taking pictures of dewdrops. I love macro photography. I saw a dew-filled web hanging on the grass. I stooped really low and took some shots. When I came in, a family member asked incredulously, “You were taking pictures of weeds?”

“AIM HIGH” I took this picture the same morning when I took the spider web photo. I guess I spent a long time in the yard, my family members wondered what I was doing.

“SUMMER” Apart from dewdrops, I like taking pictures of leaves, especially backlit leaves. I took this picture of the maple leaves one summer morning as the sun was rising. Isn’t it amazing how leaves are like fingerprints. One knows a tree by its leaves.

I thought that the trunk of this tropical tree, which I saw one winter inside the Roger Williams Conservatory one February day, was unusual and impressive. I finally got the chance to show this picture which I call “Eyes”.

“CHANDELIER” Did I say I like backlit flowers and leaves and what not? The setting sun provided the glow for this old maple seeds.

“SMALL WORLD” I hope you are not bored yet with my dewdrop pictures. Not being able to go to too many places, I focus on things that are available around me and they consist mainly of nature. This photo was taken the other day as the sun was rising. I could not see well because of the sun, so when I thought that I got good focus, I snapped photos. One was bad, this one turned out fine.
