TO SLAY THE DRAGON

A monster feasts on me

from the inside

I closed my eyes, laid me down

tried to hide

But it won’t let me go

it’s fangs have sunk so deep

it clings to me

this evil shadow I keep.

I cried and I screamed

to let it loose

its claws tightened on me

like a noose

I am failing,

that I know

my eyes are glazing

my knees bow.

I can only survive

with that one weapon –

spare me some bread

I’ll slay the dragon.

  1. That is one amazing poetry. Intense with deep, thought provoking thoughts. An emotional journey. It reminded me of the million of hungry kids througout the world, crying, begging for our help. “I can only survive
    with that one weapon –
    spare me some bread
I’ll slay the dragon.” Have a blessed day.
