This interest of mine in taking pictures has made me see things that I normally do not pay attention to.   And because of that, I find myself surprised by beauty that I would not have noticed otherwise.   Why! There is an alternate world of flowers and plants right in my own backyard and under my feet.

That they are little does not make them any less perfect than their cultivated counterparts.   It’s just too bad that they are hard to see.  Too bad they are called weeds.  Before they succumb to the lawn mower, I  took their pictures to remind me of how pretty they are –

to remind me how God has endowed the least of creation with beauty and perfection.

Somehow, thoughts about these little things brought to mind the Gospel –

And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin. 29 But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these. 30 And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith? (Mt. 6: 28-30, Douay Rheims Version)

The Psalmist says – The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord, let us rejoice and be glad.

May we always find beauty in the little things and be glad.  Have a great blessed day.

  1. As I left the polling place today, I spotted something that looks a lot like that pink weed. I picked it and brought it home to photograph later! Sometimes I think that weeds are the prettiest flowers because they grow wherever they can, surprises waiting to be noticed.

  2. Last Sunday, my eyes were on those yellow weed flowers. Oh how I admired them and questioning why they have to be pulled when they added colors to the lawn.

    • Thank you for dropping by, K. 🙂
I had to ask my Father-in-law and/or search the net for the names of those with names here. I was trying to search for the names of the others but I have not succeeded so far.
